Bring the beauty and presence of York Minster into your home with this finely detailed resin model of the cathedral’s Great West Door. Measuring 200 mm high, 145 mm wide, and 50 mm deep, the model captures the depth, texture, and ornament of one of the most important Gothic buildings in Northern Europe.
York Minster is the seat of the Archbishop of York and the cathedral church of the Diocese of York, renowned for its scale, craftsmanship, and architectural ambition. The Great West Door forms the ceremonial centre of the west front and has traditionally been used for formal processions. Although visitors usually enter through other doors today, this entrance remains a powerful and symbolic feature of the Minster’s exterior.
The stonework around the door was renewed in 2002, when heavily weathered medieval carvings were replaced with new sculptures by master carver Rory Young. These carvings depict scenes from the Book of Genesis, bringing a contemporary hand to an ancient story while respecting the building’s historic character. This model reproduces those details with care, making it an ideal piece for collectors, architects, and anyone with an appreciation for Gothic architecture and ecclesiastical art.
